European Anthropological Association (EAA)

The European Anthropological Association is a scientific organization that promotes research and teaching activities in the field of anthropology in European countries, as well as the exchange of information, workshops, scientific congresses and postgraduate studies. EAA congresses are held every two years in various European cities. The first EAA Congress was held in Zagreb in 1977, thus beginning the tradition of scientific gatherings of anthropologists, which unites them in their mission and vision to this day. The 13th EAA Congress was held in Zagreb in 2002 and the 20th EAA Congress in 2016.

20^th Congress of the European Anthropological Association: „European Anthropology in a Changing World: From Culture to Global Biology“

August 24 – August 28, 2016, Faculty of Food Technology and Biotechnology, University of Zagreb, Zagreb

From 24 to 28 August 2016, 200 participants from 26 countries gathered in Zagreb for the 20th Congress of the European Anthropological Society. The Congress included a variety of ways in which scientific research can, is or will be used to understand and overcome the social processes and risks posed by new technologies, global economic development, changing demographic structure and the increased complexity of managing modern societies. The president of the congress was S. Missoni, the honorary president was academician P. Rudan, the general secretary of the congress was B. Cvitkušić and the secretary was M. Čoklo.
